Pomegranate Seeds Safe to Eat?

I've read that the pomegranate is an excellent source of vitamins and antioxidants. However, a friend of mine told me recently that the seeds of that particular fruit are not safe to eat. Is this true? I assumed the entire fruit, minus the outer skin was edible. Any fruit experts out there that can help me out with this? Thanks

the juice and seeds are edible, the pulp (white part of the inside) and the skin are not. The seeds are just really hard to chew.
Reply:I am no fruit expert. In the traditional indian medicine system called ayurveda the seeds of pomegranates are considered having medical properties. I am not sure whether it is just of stomach ailments or for internal wounds. What is medicine in any known system can not be bad for health. Freak out. Eat the seeds.
Reply:I have been eatting them forever and im still alive...
Reply:of course it is. i think that ur friend has some kind of misbelief!
Reply:Thank you for reminding me I have one in the refrigerator waiting for me...
