Punica granatum is edible. Some varieties are more decorative than others and consequently the fruit isn't as good on the more decorative/ornamental kinds.
Punica granatum 'Nana' is the dwarf one and it's considered an ornamental type. The fruit is not the best for eating but it is edible. So, have at it!
