Pomegranate bugs. How to prevent the insects from destroying the fruit?

Hey Susan,

Pomegranate like many other fruits can be protected by systemic treatments (Bayer has a good one), that you put down according to the label. The other alternative would be to spray with a fruit tree spray (Ortho makes one called 'Fruit Tree Spray'). Follow the label instructions. Never spray the flowers. You spray before the flowers or after the flower falls off leaving just the fruit. The site below says : "...Spray with Sevin or Malathion or insecticidal soap if insects become a problem.", which are not very strong and would only be a problem within a couple of days of spraying - a good alternative.

Be sure to read the labels on your chemical applications.
