How much juice is in a pomegranate?

I found a cool recipe for a pomegranate glaze but the directions just tell me to juice 4 pomegranates. I can get the juice at the local store and after my adventure juicing strawberries by hand, I don't really want to juice any pomegranates if I can avoid it. Does anyone know how much juice is in one?

I (insanely) actually juiced ONE pomegranate once. It was about 1/4 cup of juice and took about half an hour. Smooshing all of those tiny little seeds, and letting it drain..

Just buy the POM stuff at the supermarket. I would call 4 pomegranates to be about 1 cup.
Reply:not a lot. You could buy 1 bottom of the POM's pomegranate juice at safeway (or where u shop at) and that should equal to 4+ med size pomegranates. You could also read the bottle and it should tell you how many pomegranates are in it.
Reply:same as an orange
Reply:Don't bother juicing pomegranates--they don't have much in them. Buy the juice and one pomegranate and add the seeds and pulp (the "jewels") from the fresh one on top as a garnish.

There are two ways to get the seeds and pulp out of a pomegranate: Cut the pomegranate in half at the "equator" and tap the skin with the back of a spoon to get the seeds and pulp out OR cut the pomegranate across the "equator" and pull the pomegranate carefully in a bowl of water, pour the water off and you should have undamaged jewels.

Good luck and happy eating!
