How do I cut a pomegranate?

I have a pomegranate and want to eat its seeds. Do I cut down through the centre of its "stem", or across its "equator"?

How do I cut a pomegranate?
There are detailed instructions on how to cut and serve pomegranates at the link below, including how best to removie the seeds.
Reply:cut it in half
Reply:u need to cut it across the equator and gently tap the upper portion of the hemisphere with a ladle or something on the likes of it..the seeds come out neatly without much strain
Reply:both if you want, i usually just peel mine by hand
Reply:Equator
Reply:Cut from the stem down.
Reply:cut across its equator then start picking the delicous seeds
Reply:Hi. I think the best way is to cut it down vertically. Starting from the stern insert your knife and cut downwards until you reach the bottom, then keep your knife cutting along the bottom and then up again until reaching the stern again from the opposite side where you began-
Reply:Martha Stewart takes a small knife and cuts around the equator, cutting only the outer skin. Then she pulls it apart in two halves, turns it upside down over a bowl and wacks it with the back of a spoon until all the seeds fall out, mess free.
Reply:just bite
Reply:accross its equator then after doing that take a wooden spoon and keep tapping the back of it and all the seeds will fall out....neat huh
Reply:how about peeling it, so the juice from the seeds doesn't go all over the place?
Reply:down the center, circumference what ever you need just cut it
Reply:Tell him he didn't make the team.
Reply:Whichever you prefer. I usually just peel it by hand.
Reply:across the equator.
